Academic Requirements

JURIS DOCTOR (J.D.)

The Juris Doctor degree is conferred upon students who have completed at least 120 quarter units as a law student as prescribed by the college and satisfactory completion of a course of classroom study requiring a minimum of 270 hours of classroom attendance a year for four years.  A year is defined as any consecutive twelve month period. 

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

A student enrolled at Western Sierra Law School will not be graduated until he/she has completed all courses required for his/her graduation and has received an overall grade point average of 70% or higher in their 120 units of law study.  Students who attempt to take the California General Bar Examinations without having graduated previously from Western Sierra Law School will generally be denied right to qualify for a degree.  In no event may a student extend his law study for more than six years.

SENIOR BAR EXAM REQUIREMENTS

The Senior Bar Examination is taken by applicants who have met all requirements under Committee of Bar Examiners Title 4, Division 1 of the Rules of the State Bar of California (Admission Rules), and have completed Western Sierra Law School’s entire law program.

DEAN'S HONOR LIST

Student's whose cumulative overall average is 86% or higher will be placed upon the Dean's Honor List for that term.
